14 Day Artic Itinerary

Day 1: Oslo

Oslo was named the "Green Capital of Europe" in 2019. You'll be staying in a hotel near the Oslo Airport so you can easily catch your flight on Day 2 to Longyearbyen.

Take the airport train to central Oslo, if you are adventurous and have time. Trains depart and arrive throughout the day. Oslo Central Station is surrounded by shops, cafés, cultural attractions, and an attractive waterfront.

Day 2: Longyearbyen

You will fly to Longyearbyen today (regular flight), which is the administrative centre of Svalbard, and where we begin our Arctic Expedition! Our staff will greet you at the Longyearbyen Airport and transfer you to the Pier where you will board our  expedition vessel. Set up your suite, and then explore your ship. This will be home for the next few days. Your expedition team will provide you with briefings, introductions and a schedule of activities once the ship is underway. Step out on the decks after the first delicious dinner to enjoy the beautiful scenery and endless evening lights as we sail through Isfjorden, the largest fjord in Svalbard.

Day 3 & 4: Greenland Sea

We head south-west across the Greenland Sea to East Greenland. Sea ice can be encountered at any time in these northern latitudes. We are constantly on the lookout for marine mammals. In the past, many different whale species, including bowheads whales lived in Greenland Sea. The whales almost went extinct due to the hunting that lasted until the early 20th century. The populations of whales are now recovering and we sometimes see them passing.

Day 5 to 8: Greenland

It is authentic expedition cruising and opens up new exploration opportunities. Our arctic expedition will allow us to experience the true breath of the Arctic. The weather conditions and the sea ice will determine our itinerary in East Greenland and what we can explore. You can rest assured that the experienced expedition leader and captain will make every effort to ensure that you have the best wildlife viewing experience, see incredible scenery, and land whenever possible. Franz Josef Fjord, Kong Oscar Fjord are all part of the Northeast Greenland National Park. It is one of the largest national parks in Greenland and possibly also its most remote. The entire area is home to some of the most spectacular scenery in the Arctic. Greenland's mountainous interior is dotted with deep fjords, narrow channels and ice-covered peaks that reach up to 2000m high. The tidewater glaciers produce colossal, floating icebergs which are carried by the wind and tide through the entire fjord network. Musk oxen, Arctic hare and tundra fields are found on the shore. Hikers will love the vast landscape, which is open and seems to have been untouched by time. In this region, you will also discover ancient Thule archaeological sites, historic trappers' homes, and modern Inuit hunter's cabins. We want to provide the best possible experience.

Day 9 & 10: Svalbard

After exploring the Northeast Greenland coast and fjords we return across the Greenland Sea to Svalbard. Our expert crew will provide presentations and workshops to ensure these days aren't wasted. But it is up to you how much time at sea you want. From the open-air decks, as well as from exterior windows or balconies of staterooms and suites you can enjoy whale and seabird sightings.

Day 11 & 13: Svalbard

Our itinerary in the High Arctic wilderness Svalbard is flexible so that you can maximize your experience. Our route and the exploration possibilities are determined by weather and sea-ice conditions. The experienced expedition leader and captain adapt the plans according to conditions. The stunning scenery is created by majestic mountains, deep blue fjords and turquoise water. You can see grazing Reindeer, Arctic Foxes and a variety of marine mammals. Watch out for polar wolves in Svalbard. Ny Alesund is a former mine town that's now home to Arctic researchers. Visit its post office, museum and gift shop. The area was also used in historical North Pole expeditions.

Day 14: Longyearbyen

We bid you goodbye in Longyearbyen after a final breakfast buffet onboard. You will be transferred to the airport for a flight back to Oslo. You may be planning your next trip to the Polar Worlds with us! .
