@Ontheroad8899
Wonderful day tour with Huellas del Sur. The park and glacier are amazing. Walkways and a boat trip to see the glacier close up. Beautiful pictures. A cafe to sit in if you buy food there; a few benches to sit on outside if you don't. Unfortunately the park charges a foreigners' price (like every park in the region) as if all tourists are richer. You can pay by credit card or cash, even if they tell you you have to pay with cash.
@Compass37162906472
This is an amazing place to see the glacier up close without having to be on a boat. The various walk ways give you different aspects as you walk along. When we went it was raining hard and as this restricted the distant views it enlarged the cracks in the. This resulted in some fantastic calving right in front of eyes!
@alicemE781RZ
Our family loved visiting Perito Moreno Glacier. The massive ice walls and cracking sounds were fascinating for the kids. The walkways offered safe and stunning views, and the boat tour brought us close to the glacier. It was a bit crowded, but overall, a fantastic family adventure!
@YolyPalomo
This glacier is absolutely amazing! Definitely worth spending a day visiting this beautiful park. It’s about two hours outside of the city depending on the weather but tours can be organized with a driver. Winter conditions can bring serious snow and we had flights canceled the day after our visit, so give your itinerary space for mother nature is you go during their winter. Best experience and well organized park!!!
@marhills3388
This is a very good place to visit with some easy walking trails to see some wonderful mountains. You can of course walk for many hours into the park but most people just spend a few hours here on a circular route. The day we went it was very windy so come prepared for a variety of seasons. I'm sure that this can get crowded on times but we were lucky and there weren't that many people here when we visited. It's a reasonable drive from Mendoza to get here but well worth the visit.
@50cab50
You need to book online (and pay) before you arrive. Booking can be infuriating as the dates are only released a month at a time and, as we wanted to visit on 03/04, we had to keep checking the website every day until April appeared (around 26/03). You choose your preferred circuit, add how many people and check availability. You can reserve online and get a reservation e-mail. Once in Argentina, you can present that reservation at any Pago Facil counter (they are everywhere!) and this completes the booking. Once at Aconcagua Park, present both the booking and the receipt and a very bored park employee will give you tickets. Whilst the desk also says you should check out after your visit, we tried but no one was interested. There are toilets (no paper) and a small shop at the entrance selling sweets, filter coffee, walking fleeces and a few sandwiches and drinks (pricey as you’d expect). Route 7 to the park is awesome - wide open roads following a disused rail track and mountains of every hue you can imagine. If you’ve ever studied geography or geology, you will be overwhelmed with moraines, erratics, scree, and geology evolving in front of your eyes. Dare I say the journey was better than the park? At the park itself, there is no information about the circuits and the Horcones circuit isn’t well sign-posted. There are plenty of tracks and people were finding their own routes and making up their own circuits. We got quite tired because the air is thinner (2,900 m above sea level) and the path was very rubbly in parts. Aconcagua itself still had snow and you could see the glacier (I think) though you don’t get very close of course. The top of the mountain was in cloud, but those clouds seemed to burn off straight away as they pass over the peak, giving rise to stunning views in every other direction. Do take wind-proof layers as it was very windy at times, and definitely take water. It’s at least an hour’s drive back to Uspallata (nice town where you can get food) but you might want to stuff your bag with empanadas. Save your visit for a sunny day to see all the rainbow colours of the Andes.
@KennethK596
IF you have the chance, do it! One of the best drives of my life, Mendoza to Aconcagua and back. It is easily done in one day if you start early(ish). The views, the drive and the shear experience of being in the Andes, seeing the highest peak, is mindblowing. Just go ahead and do it!
@10kdivergp
Oh my goodness. I was thinking… 3 hour drive from Mendoza. Then 2 hour hike, and 3 hours to return. Too much driving, right?! Wrong!!! Once you are about 45 minutes out of Mendoza, you are in for an incredible experience. The views are unlike any thing I’ve ever seen. Once you arrive (bring a coat!), you are in for a truly spiritual experience. Take the walk… take your time… consider all that you see and it’s reflection of an amazing Artist. Sing a song. Reflect on poetry. You’re in a magical place. Then enjoy the return journey. You will see multitudes of colors and sites. Maybe hire a driver, so you can focus the beauty around you.
@414joef
We had a wonderful tour and Andrea was a fabulous guide. The Andes are well worth the trip . . . spectacular views unlike any we have seen before. The lunch stop was also top notch. We give this tour our highest recommendation!
@backpacker31
Over more than a decade I’ve explored the Beagle Channel from land and by water. For a land perspective I recommend a hike along the channel from within Parque Nacional Tierra Del Fuego. On the water, I had the opportunity to cruise from Ushuaia en route to the Drake Passage which took us through some virtually unspoiled natural landscapes dotted with uninhabited islands and remote, sparsely populated villages. There is so much incredible wildlife both in and around the Beagle Channel.
@Pistachon279
We took a tour in the port, it takes about 3 hours till the National Park Tierra del Fuego, it was raining in the beginning but still we could go outside to take some nice pics, the wildlife you can see a lot of birds and sea lions.
@rons320
The views of Tierra del Fuego along Canal Beagle are spectacular including the panorama of the town of Ushuaia which is located in the most beautiful part of it.
@mirub08
beautieful to sail through it , and going to the light house is something you must do . you can appreciate the city from the water
@jaybeeFL
Seldom in one's lifetime do you get the opportunity to experience a top 10 bucket list which is exactly what we were able to do when our cruise ship spent the day in Ushuaia. We scheduled a boat tour to Martillo island to see the massive penguin colony and transited much of the Beagle Channel marveling at the vast array of marine wildlife and the sheer beauty of this remote area of the world! WOW what a gift to mankind and delight to be able to experience it!
@thankunextbeach
As an asthmatic person that have reduced lung capacity due to pneumonia, it took me longer than the rest of my group to hike uphill, but the view at the end was fully worth it! We were sent to multiple viewpoints, but the mosquitoes were brutal at the lower sections. I also refilled water at the stream and it tastes exactly like mineral water being sold in stores! The first 4 kilometres or so will be slightly uphill, then a flat area for 4 km, then the last two kilometres will be brutal, where the path widens, but the very the last one with the switchbacks will be extremely steep. With the amount of people hiking and the trail narrowing at the switchback portion, it helps to take a rest once every few flights of switchbacks. I asked people along the way how close we were and their estimates are much lower than the actual time I made it, so that's my two cents. Also, at the top of the switchback will be a false peak, but there will be another small hill to climb. At that point, there are no more trees so it will be slippery specially going downhill. Going that small hill at the end will lead you to the Laguna de los Tres viewpoint. Don't forget the side trail to Laguna Sucia as well. The lake is extremely blue from the Laguna de los Tres viewpoint.
@archlav
We stayed at El Chaltan and started hiking around 9:30 am. Our hotel provided us a packed lunch. We carried hiking poles and had good hiking boots, as well as dressed in layers. The weather is erratic with very strong winds. Don't wear anything that could fly off! We carried water and snacks. If you are climbing all way to tres lago estimate 10 hour hike if you are in good condition for 20kms. There is a steady incline but the one right on top is a massive elevation gain for about an hour and incredibly difficult. For gentle hikers focus on lago Capri which is a doable hike with gorgeous views of mountains, glaciers and lake. You can also hike to Mirador fitzroy for gorgeous views. Watch out for signs on where you cam hike. My son took a wrong turn and ended up 3 hour delay.
@29richardw
We had been told it is hit and miss with weather but we were lucky enough to get a glorious, if very cold day, to hike the Torres up Fitzroy. It’s a long hike with all the challenge in the last 2k up to the lake. We were lucky enough to see it frozen and quite quiet so really enjoyed the spectacle and the views. Would definitely recommend but check weather and also be aware that the National Parks now charge $45,000 per person fee and they have huts at all park entrances so you can’t escape. You can book online so well worth checking this
@chait1788
One of the longer and tougher hikes in El Chalten and definitely worth it. There are some beautiful viewpoints along the way - Rio de la veutas had great views, the cerro fitz roy trail had a lot of scenic viewpoints with great and beautiful views of the mountain while the laguna capri trail was good as a picnic spot to chill by water. Weren't able to get to the top as it had a very had uphill climb for the last 2kms which would definitely require better fitness and ard 90mins. Due to time constraints we left before getting there, but the final destination is amazing and makes for a beautiful view.
@aidens674
Cerro Fitz Roy exceeded all our expectations. My partner and I were looking for a unique experience in nature and found much more than we expected. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the majestic snow-capped peaks and the tranquility of the surroundings. The hiking trails offer unforgettable views and the opportunity to really connect with nature. It is a perfect place to enjoy as a couple, explore new landscapes together and create memories that will last a lifetime. I highly recommend visiting Cerro Fitz Roy if you are looking for adventure and pure natural beauty.
@chait1788
The hill of seven colours was nice and a closer attraction to visit if not driving all the way to Humahuaca. Located at purmamarca - you get a chance to see the geological wonder. Also sign for jujuy is in town to take photos with the sign.
@Patty6-13
This is a charming village with the Hill of 7 colors looming over it along with other almost equally beautiful mountains! The cost of climbing the private overlook was today 500 pesos but still a good deal as the views all around are great! I will go again in the mornin as the sun rises. I definitely recommend staying here a couple nights to truly take it all in—an Andean adventure!
@WanakaWitch
Easy to see from road and also easy access from town. Very beautiful but would’ve make a spectacular trip to see this if out of your way as the whole area is full of similar features.
@Try2TravelSustainabl
A great stop between Salta and Salt Flats. Lots of food hotel and shopping options. Viewing platform and mountain hiking area.
@none4u2
Gorgeous to look at, hike up, view the world from… just go and you will be mesmerized the entire region is great
