The expedition commences with a chartered flight from Keflavik to Constable Pynt, located at the head of Hurry Inlet, where you'll board a ship and sail along the glaciated Volquart Boons Coast. During the journey, you'll explore Danmark Island, with its abandoned Inuit settlement, navigate through stunning fjords filled with icebergs, and potentially visit Røde Fjord if ice conditions permit. This itinerary will take you through awe-inspiring landscapes, from Ø Fjord's towering mountains and colossal icebergs to the largest settlement in Scoresbysund, Ittoqqortoormiit. Your expedition will conclude with a final landing at Constable Pynt, followed by a flight back to Keflavik.

11 Day Artic Itinerary

Day 1: Constable Pynt

Constable Pynt is the airport at the top of Hurry Inlet. You can arrive via chartered flight from Keflavik. The geological heritage of this area is incredibly rich.

Day 2: Volquart Boons Coast

Sail along the Volquart Boons coast and enjoy the views. You can start your Zodiac tour near Manegletcher and Vikingebugt.

Day 3: Danmark Island

Visit Danmark Island to see the remnants of an Inuit village abandoned 200 years ago. Circular stone tent rings are the summer homes, and the winter houses near a small cape. These sites have been well-preserved, including easily identifiable entrances and bear-proof food caches. Grave sites also remain. You will sail through the afternoon along the eastern side of Milne Land, passing icebergs scattered about.

Day 4, 5 & 6: Rode Island & Rode Fjord

Rode Island is the destination after sailing through picturesque berg-filled Fjords in the West. You can see basalt and sandstone intrusions against the backdrop of blue-white bergs. You could navigate Rode Fjord if the ice allows. It is renowned for its beauty. If you are lucky, you may be able to find an area where it is safe for landing. You can walk through the fall vegetation looking for musk-oxen or other Arctic sights.

Day 7: O Fjord

You are visiting one of the largest fjords on earth today: O Fjord. It is almost forty nautical miles (74 km) long, with mountains up to 2,012 meters (6,562 ft), as well as icebergs drifting over depths exceeding 1,000 meters (3281 ft). You are looking for shelter on Bjorneoer, in Jyttehavn. It is possible to land in the late afternoon.

Day 8: Sydkap

You will see colossal, icebergs in the morning. Some are over 100m (328ft) tall and more than 1km (0.6 miles) long. The fjord only measures 400 meters (1,312 ft) deep, so most of the icebergs are in grounded. Then you land at Sydkap with a great view of Hall Bredning. You can also see Arctic Hares.

Day 9: Ittoqqortoormiit

Ittoqqortoormiit is the biggest settlement of Scoresbysund with about 500 inhabitants. You can purchase stamps at the post-office for your postcards or stroll through the area to view the seals, musk-oxen and sled dog skins drying.

Day 10: Jameson Land & Hurry Inlet

You stop in the morning on the southern coast of Jameson Land at a small lagoon, near Kap Stewart. The waders, geese and collared lmmings are gathering here for the autumn migration. You can also walk along the river that ends here and the head of the Hurry Inlet fjord. You can climb the J.P. Koch Fjeld mountain near Hareelv. Scientists found fossils in this area that link fish to amphibians from the Lower Cretaceous Period. Spend the night at an anchorage off Constable Pynt.

Day 11: Constable Pynt

No matter how great the adventure may be, it must end. Constable Pynt is your last landing, and you fly to Keflavik by chartered aircraft, bringing home unforgettable memories.
