12 Day Antarctica Itinerary

Day 1: Ushuaia

Ushuaia, also known as the End of the World because of its position at the very southern tip of South America in the Tierra del Fuego Archipelago, is not the end of adventure. The vibrant town of Ushuaia is located where the Andes Mountains meet the Beagle Channel, and behind the colorful city lies the Martial Mountains. Parque Yatana is a great place to experience the indigenous culture.

Day 2 & 3: Drake Passage

The most adventurous explorers will be able to navigate the Drake Passage. The way is guided by the albatrosses and petrels that glide through the sky. Antarctica is a triumphant journey when you witness the power of the continent.
The Drake Passage takes you to The White Continent, from the Southernmost Region of Americas. The Drake Passage is a waterway that connects the cold waters of southern seas with warm water from northern seas. This creates strong currents and will test you.

The rewards of a journey that takes on these cold waters are not comparable. It is the combination of cold and warm waters that creates an ecosystem where extraordinary wildlife can be found. Drake Passage is a great opportunity to see humpbacks whales, hourglass dolphins, and other wildlife. The 48-hour Drake Passage journey includes sounds of ocean crashing against the ship, petrels and gulls cries, as well as the roar of the ocean.

You can still see the other side of Drake Passage, even though it is known for being a challenging waterway. Sometimes, it is calm, making the journey into Antarctica a relaxing experience. Drake Passage is a wonderful experience because you can never be sure what to expect.

The South Shetland Islands greet you as you land on the South Shetland Islands after you have successfully crossed the Drake Passage. The rite of entry to the seventh continent is complete.

Day 4: Antarctic Circle

You enter a world that feels different when you reach the 66th parallel south, bringing out your inner explorer. The narrow channels bring you close to the ice floes and snow-capped mountains peaks, creating a picturesque scene. You will join the Order of the Red Nose - the few select people who have navigated deep into the farthest reaches of The White Continent. It is an incredible feeling of accomplishment. Due to changing weather conditions, the Antarctic Circle Crossing can be done at a date other than the one indicated in the itinerary. The expedition team and your Captain will communicate any wildlife sightings to you and get as close to the views as possible. This creates a sense of spontaneity and exploration. Your Captain will expertly guide our yacht to remote, hidden landings that allow you to immerse yourself in the destination. To ensure a safe and enjoyable expedition, all expeditions may be subject to changes.

Day 4, 5, 6 & 7: Beak Island & Brown Bluff

Antarctica, also known as The White Continent, is the last frontier of exploration for many experienced explorers. You may visit sites such as Beak Island and Brown Bluff while navigating Antarctic waters. Every landing on the continent has its own distinctive landscape. From vast tundra to rugged mountains peaks, each one offers a unique experience.
CAPTAIN'S CHOSE - Captain's Choice port of calls adds to the adventure, and surprise. The captain of your ship will navigate around the changing weather as required and bring you to areas where wildlife can be viewed.

Day 8 & 9: South Shetland Islands

The South Shetland Islands are part of Antarctica and offer a variety of activities, including hiking, wildlife viewing, beautiful landscapes, and breathtaking views. They give you a feeling of exploring a new world. Elephant Island is named after the shape of the cliffside, and because it's home to elephant seals. A landing there would put you in the footsteps of the Shackleton expedition. Deception Island is another landing option. It was named after its volcanic caldera, which contains heated springs in the midst of black sand. Half Moon Island is another possible landing. Yankee Harbor, Point Wild, and Barrientos Island are also good options. You can see Gentoo Penguin rookeries on these islands.
