14 Day Artic Itinerary

Day 1: Reykjavik

Reykjavik is the northernmost capital in the world! After your flight, we've booked you a hotel where you can relax and prepare for the upcoming Arctic adventure. You still have energy? Use this time to discover the many attractions and points of interest that Reykjavik has to offer. Take in the breathtaking views of Reykjavik from the Perlan observatory, including the futuristic Hallgrimskirkja Church, colorful houses, and narrow streets.

You'll be in love with the first thing you see! Laugavegur is Reykjavik’s main shopping area. You can also visit the Whales of Iceland exhibit and National Museum. Reykjavik has a wide range of restaurants where you can enjoy a traditional Icelandic dinner.

Day 2: Reykjavik

You can explore the city in the morning after breakfasting at your hotel. Afternoon is when our expedition begins. Our expedition team will welcome you aboard the comfortable vessel after you've been transferred from the airport. Set up your cabins, and get to know the vessel. It will be your home-away-from home for the upcoming adventure. We'll begin our journey with an exciting schedule of information briefings, including introductions by the expedition team. Step out on the decks after a delicious dinner to enjoy the breathtaking views of Faxafloi. Keep your eyes peeled for any whale sightings.

Day 3: Westjords

We are exploring the Westfjords of Iceland today. Only 10% of Icelanders visit this remote region with its crenulated coasts, numerous waterfalls, and rugged mountains. Whales live in the deep fjords, while seals, birds and estuaries are abundant.

Day 4: Arctic Circle

We will cross the Arctic Circle as we travel from Iceland to East Greenland. Our expert crew will present workshops and presentations, while our onboard recreational facilities ensure this day isn't wasted. From the open decks, as well as from stateroom and balcony windows or balconies on exterior sides of the ship, you can enjoy whale and seabird sightings.

Day 5, 6, 7 & 8: Greenland

The most authentic form of expedition cruising. The weather conditions and the sea ice will determine our itinerary in East Greenland and explore opportunities. You can rest assured that the experienced expedition leader and captain will make every effort to see wildlife, discover stunning scenery and go ashore whenever possible. Franz Josef Fjord, Kong Oscar Fjord are all part of the largest national park in the world: Northeast Greenland National Park. Scoresby Sund, the longest and largest fjord in the world, is located on the coast of Greenland. The ever-changing conditions of ice will allow us to explore these fjords systems.

Greenland's mountainous interior is dotted with deep fjords, narrow channels and peaks clad in ice that reach up to 2000 metres high. Musk oxen, Arctic hare and tundra fields are found on the shore. Hikers will love the vast, open landscape that appears to have been untouched by time. In this region, we can also see ancient Thule archaeological sites, historic trappers' homes, and modern Inuit hunter's cabins.

Ittoqqortoormiit, the Inuit settlement of the area is the sole permanent settlement. This community has a great museum, gift shop, post office, Greenlandic Sled Dogs, and the chance to meet Inuits.

Day 9 & 10: Svalbard

We continue our journey to Svalbard after our incredible time in East Greenland. We are on the lookout for marine mammals, such as seals and whales.

Day 11, 12 & 13: Svalvard

Svalbard is a place where the High Arctic wilderness truly comes to life, and offers an authentic experience. The weather conditions and the sea ice will determine our route and explore opportunities. Our expedition leader and captain adapt our itinerary in order to take advantage of Nature's best offers.

Spitsbergen's northwestern region is where we plan to explore. The area is home to some of the most beautiful scenery in the Arctic and the best opportunities for wildlife viewing. Glaciers calving icebergs in turquoise water are huge tidewater glaciers. Reindeer graze on fields of blooming tundra, and Arctic foxes play in the icy waters. Marine mammals inhabit the abundant inshore and off shore waters. Polar Bears are spotted anywhere and everywhere in Svalbard.

Ny Alesund is also located in the area. This former mining community is home to a large international group of Arctic researchers. It has a museum, gift store, and apothecary. It was also the staging ground for historical attempts to find the North Pole.

Day 14: Longyearbyen

We will transfer you to the airport, or to a central location after your last breakfast buffet onboard. You may be planning your next trip to the polar regions with us!
