A new gateway hotel for travelers heading to Antarctica has unveiled details of its interior design ahead of its planned opening in October 2026. Named The Cormorant at 55 South, the property is being developed in Puerto Williams, Chile, and will accommodate guests participating in fly-cruise journeys to Antarctica.

The hotel will feature 150 guestrooms along with a range of public spaces designed to provide comfort and relaxation while showcasing the dramatic scenery of southern Patagonia. Its interior concept combines contemporary design with natural materials and large panoramic windows that frame views of surrounding forests and the Beagle Channel.

Guests will arrive in Chile on a flight to Santiago, followed by a charter flight to Puerto Williams for a one-night stay at the hotel before boarding a private plane to King George Island in Antarctica. This arrangement allows guests to avoid the treacherous waters of the Drake Passage, enhancing the overall travel experience to one of the world’s most remote destinations.

Following their Antarctic cruise, guests will again stay overnight at The Cormorant before returning to Santiago. This hotel aims to streamline travel and elevate the experience for those exploring the unique environments of Antarctica.
