The Magellan Explorer stands as the pioneering expedition vessel meticulously crafted for Antarctic aircruise operations, marking a convergence of top-tier expedition and boutique hospitality.
Crafted through collaborative efforts between global polar expedition specialists, designers, engineers, and naval architects, the Magellan Explorer is both robust and agile. Tailored solutions, intelligent and sustainable, have been incorporated to elevate the overall guest experience, positioning Magellan as the optimal hub for air-cruise ventures.
The interiors of the Magellan Explorer, envisioned to deliver utmost comfort and contemporary aesthetics, beckon guests to unwind and savor the experience. Santiago de Chile's esteemed design studio, Enrique Concha & Co., meticulously curated every aspect, from colors to materials to lighting, with a keen eye on enhancing the on-board journey.
Accommodating up to 73 guests across seven categories, Magellan Explorer for air-cruises includes dedicated single cabins. Private balconies grace all cabins, excluding Porthole Cabins. Most double cabins offer the flexibility of configuring twin beds into a king-size arrangement. Each accommodation is equipped with a wardrobe, individually controlled heating, a cozy sitting area, and a private bathroom featuring a shower and heated floors.
Magellan Explorer's public spaces are thoughtfully designed to establish a seamless connection with its surroundings. The accessible bow allows guests proximity to the water for unparalleled wildlife observation and photography. The forward-facing observation lounge and bar, along with expert-led educational programs, provide a captivating experience. The outdoor observation deck offers sweeping views, fostering close interaction with the natural landscapes. The dining room boasts expansive windows for scenic dining. Additional amenities include a meeting room, an Antarctic-themed library, a gift shop, and a sheltered outdoor barbecue area, complemented by a gym and sauna.
Meeting the latest Polar Code specifications, the ship holds a Polar Class 6 ice-class (Lloyd's Register PC6). It ensures comfortable navigation and maneuverability through stabilizers and bow and stern thrusters. Safety is enhanced by an ice-detecting radar, while an energy-recovery system minimizes the vessel's environmental impact by recycling engine-produced heat to warm the ship and its water supply.
