Conscious travel is a fundamental tenet of Kontiki Expedition's philosophy. It has designed slow-paced, meaningful experiences that allow guests to get to know local people and places better, while protecting the environment and helping rural communities. 

Kontiki Expeditions collaborates with local communities by implementing social programs which include building basic infrastucture such as schools, nurseries and health centers; training and technical education in careers relevant to the community’s needs; and, opening soccer schools for children and teens with the sponsorship of Fundación Real Madrid. 

In terms of environmental care, single-use plastics have been excluded in favor of onboard water refill stations; chemical-free cleaning supplies are utilized; strict waste management and recycling protocols have been established; and there is an ambitious plan to offset the carbon footprint by 2023.

The well-being of team members is an important part of sustainability policies. Gender equality and continuous team training are encouraged, promoting personal and professional development in a stimulating and respectful work environment.
