Machu Picchu, one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World, remains a top travel destination for both locals and international visitors eager to explore its remarkable stone architecture and stunning natural scenery. To ensure an unforgettable experience, careful planning is essential for visiting Peru's most iconic attraction.
To encourage domestic tourism and meet increasing demand, the Peruvian government has introduced promotional ticket rates for 2025. These discounted rates are available to Peruvian citizens, foreign residents in Peru, and members of the Andean Community of Nations (CAN).
The updated ticket prices are outlined in Ministerial Resolution No. 000440-2024-MC, published in the Official Gazette El Peruano. Signed by the Minister of Culture, Fabricio Valencia, the resolution also establishes promotional rates for varied entry schedules to the Inca citadel. Additionally, the entrance system now includes three new circuits divided into ten routes, offering diverse ways to explore the Machu Picchu llaqta (city in the Quechua language).
The initiative is supported by a report from the Cusco Decentralized Culture Office, emphasizing the need for effective visitor management to preserve the site, diversify tourism activities, and boost the local economy.
According to the resolution:
This initiative aims to enhance the visitor experience while preserving the cultural and natural integrity of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
