Searching for the perfect adventure can be a challenge when you have to juggle the experience, uniqueness of the destination, comfort required and of course your budget. At Voyagers travel we totally get it.
Below are the comments and a yacht review by our previous guests Tammy and Samuel.
Our endless quest finally led me to an unforgettable experience: A yacht trip on board a luxury trimaran in the Galapagos Islands.
We want to share our thoughts about the luxury and beauty of life aboard a yacht in these enchanting islands. Read on for a full review of what we experienced!
A quick summary of our report:
Here we review the Horizon Trimaran and where it lived up to our expectations and the things to be considered
On the Galapagos luxury yacht, Sammy and Tommy shared how every day felt like stepping into a postcard. The perfect white sand beach (Gardner Bay) at Espanola Island. The fancy yet hearty meals and learning about the islands' fiery birth from volcanoes.
Here is the booking page for the trip we took:

From $7,100.00Samuel and I (Tammy) jumped at the chance to navigate on the Horizon yacht for our eight-day luxury cruise in the Galapagos Islands. From day one, it felt like stepping into another world — a blend of comfort on the sea and wild encounters.
We made friends quickly aboard. Sharing stories under the stars, we connected with people from all walks of life who also shared our passion for exploration and love for nature's wonders.
One night remains in our memory when a fellow traveler (Jerry from Canada) said,.
“It’s like being part of an exclusive club where adventure meets luxury.”
This journey was more than just sightseeing; it was about understanding our planet better through its untouched landscapes and diverse wildlife. Sammy especially loved learning about volcanoes while I couldn't get enough of snorkeling with marine iguanas and counting sea birds.
Every experience brought us closer to nature—and to each other.
We continued to our journey to Espanola Island, ready for adventure. This island welcomed us with sights of diverse wildlife and a rocky landscape.
The Walks are on uneven terrain, it is important to bring a good pair of sneakers. Also make sure you are able to go at least for a full mile unassisted for this type of trip. Iguanas here change color during the mating season, becoming green and orange, it is a way of attracting mate during their mating rituals.
The trail leads to nesting area of the Waved albatross, this is the only location in the world where this bird nests. Their mating dance is unique, rubbing beak and squawking. Further down the path is the masked booby colony followed by the famous blowhole (a natural water formation that throws ocean spray up to about 5 meters in the air).
On our first day aboard the Horizon yacht, we had some of the best food ever. Dinner was more than just eating; it was a journey through flavors. The chef used fresh ingredients found right in the Galápagos Islands.
It felt like each bite told a story of the sea and land around us.
After dinner, we all gathered to learn about the islands' volcanic nature. Our guide explained how eruptions formed these unique landscapes over millions of years. We talked about shield volcanoes, fissure volcanoes, and why this place is a hotspot for scientists studying Earth's geological changes.
This chat made me see the islands differently – not just as beautiful spots but as living laboratories changing with time.
Hopping – cruising - from one island to another, a Galápagos adventure feels like opening a treasure chest with surprises at every turn. Between the visits to North Seymour and Santa Cruz islands and soaking in sights of dancing boobie birds and playful sea lions, each moment is memorable.
North Seymour Island was a blast from the start. We woke up to an exceptional sunrise, bright colors splashing over the horizon. Breakfast on the yacht was next-level indulgence; fresh fruits while watching the Galápagos Islands wake up.
“I once heard, Nature is not a place to visit. It is home. That hit different standing on North Seymour Island.” - Me
The air buzzed with anticipation of seeing our first blue-footed boobies. Walking through the island's paths felt like stepping into a live documentary—a real treat for someone who thrives on eco-adventures like me. We almost had to sneak around the sea lions guarding the landing steps. We then went along the sandy trail. Our first stop was the nesting site of the magnificent frigate birds. Males fill up their pouches with air to attract females. There are a few dozen nests on the bushes next to the trail. We then walked on a dirt path, quite easy since the island itself is flat. We found the nesting area of the blue footed boobie birds, many actually nest on the trail. They were rubbing beaks and lifting their feet in a mating dance, this was a true highlight of our visit.
Our small yacht made it’s way to Santa Cruz Island and Las Bachas beach.
This spot is a hidden gem in the Galapagos archipelago, far from the usual paths explored by some of the larger expedition ships.
Bacha beach was more than just sand and water; it was a doorway to wildlife wonders. We had high hopes of seeing flamingos, those pink dancers balancing on one leg as if performing just for me.
Their grace added magic to every picture we took.
Then it was time to move on and spot some masked boobies by the shoreline.
As we hiked along the beach, our eyes caught sight of pink hues against the blue backdrop. There they were, elegant flamingos and various bird species living together.
Each step brought us closer to understanding why preserving these ecosystems is key for our planet.
The Bachas beach area got its name from an old story about barges. These large flat-bottomed boats were common in the past for moving goods, especially on islands. There are the rest of a sunken barge and this is what gives the name to this visitor site.
We started our navigation around 9h00 pm, just after dinner. After an all night-long 8-9 hour, wavy sail to Genovesa Island, one of the more remote islands on the edge of the island chain we arrived just before sunrise into Darwin bay.
This island is known for its large population of boobie birds including red-footed, Nazca and blue-footed boobies. But it is also home to yellow warblers, herons that look like Mr. Burns from the Simpsons. If this is not enough, as you reach the cliff at the end of the Barranco trail you will find thousands of sea birds creating a cloud in the air. In the crevices alongside the path you can spot owls just waiting to go out and hunt as well as Galapagos hawks.
There were many late nesters, younger birds that had not left their parents guard and you could see them still waiting to be fed. What we loved most though was seeing all of the juvenile birds with their wild Mohawks and “just got out of bed” feathers.
Birds aside, Genovesa island is also a hunting ground for 18-foot hammerhead sharks, and in the afternoon, we had the chance to slip into the water to see these incredible fish in the wild, what an adventure!
Stepping aboard the Horizon Yacht feels like boarding your passage to a new undiscovered world. This motor trimaran is spacious and elegant, it was our first time on a luxury yacht. We were surprised how spacious each area was.
The back side of the yacht has a dive platform, the tenders (zodiac boats) are brought here so we can board them and reach the islands for disembarkation on excursions.
Here, everything is about ease and readiness for adventure. There's a table full of snacks for quick energy boosts, benches where we can sit and get our gear on, and even shoe storage areas so we don't track sand everywhere, the trend is to go barefoot (or bring your crocs).
The boarding area is designed to cover everything - from bathroom facilities that mean no uncomfortable waits before exploring, to hiking poles for those challenging treks across volcanic landscapes.
Stepping into the dining area of the yacht was like walking into a cozy yet elegant café, every night there was change in arrangement from family style meals to a small group setup. There's a serving bar where guests can pick up their cappuccinos or lattes any time they want.
I found myself grabbing a coffee early in the morning (surprise they even had almond milk) and enjoying it on deck, watching the sun rise over the Galápagos Islands, while Samuel enjoyed some breakfast tea. Meals are another highlight. Chefs prepare gourmet dishes that made me feel pampered while still keeping an eco-conscious mindset. The menu was a mix of international classics (chicken cordon bleu, filet mignon, eggplant parmesan) with the option to try local Ecuadorean dishes like ceviche or encocado de pescado (fish in coconut sauce).
For snacks, we didn't have to wait for mealtimes. Freshly baked goods would be ready after coming back from an adventurous snorkeling trip at “the devils crown” or a hike to the Barranco on Genovesa island.
Plus, with a wine fridge stocked and a water dispenser ready to fill my reusable water bottle provided by the crew, staying hydrated or enjoying a glass of wine under the stars was simple and sustainable.
We stepped into our cabin on the main deck and were blown away. The king-sized bed, with practical bedside tables, felt like a dream. A large closet held all our gear easily. Our favorite part? The modern bathroom made us forget we were on a yacht in a remote pacific archipelago.
There's even a desk with chairs for jotting down my adventures or sending out a quick email to brag about this luxury yacht tour.
Each suite boasts its own balcony. Imagine sipping morning coffee with two chairs and a table, ocean breezes mixing with the sounds of seabirds. It’s not just about comfort; it’s about soaking in that breathtaking Galápagos view right from your private space.
We were lucky enough to have several frigate birds follow the yacht around, we delighted in watching them steal food from other birds.
After getting comfortable in our plush cabin, it's hard not to notice the exceptional service on board. Lorena, a standout crew member, impresses every guest with her dedication.
She enters each room quietly, several times a day, ensuring everything is spotless and in order. No detail escapes her watchful eye.
Lorena does more than just clean; she arranges our belongings with care that goes beyond what you'd expect. One afternoon, after a long snorkeling trip near Bartholomé Island, I came back to find my scattered gear neatly organized and my clothes folded better than I could ever manage myself.
It felt like magic.
Her efforts make every moment on this yacht smooth and worry-free. Thanks to Lorena's hard work behind the scenes — something often unseen but always felt — we get to focus fully on enjoying the breathtaking landscapes of these volcanic islands without sweating the small stuff.
We love dining under the stars and nothing beats a barbecue on the yacht's upper deck surrounded by views of volcanic islands and ocean rocks. We each grabbed a juicy burger while staring out at the endless blue sea. It's an unforgettable mix of luxury and nature's beauty in Galapagos.
The breeze, the smell of food grilling, and laughter all around make for perfect moments.
The sun deck is another gem with loungers where it is possible lie back and relax under the sky. There’s also a sitting area for chatting or reading books. And let’s not forget the jacuzzi! Taking a dip while watching island scenery is something out of a dream – too bad the hot tub could not be used when the yacht was in navigation.
This space truly sets this luxury yacht apart from anything else in Galapagos.
Here, every moment feels tailor-made for adventure seekers who cherish both comfort and eco-conscious travel. Whether it's basking in the warmth on elegant loungers or enjoying drinks by the bar, it speaks directly to those wanting to merge exploration with relaxation.
When you're on a luxury yacht in the Galapagos, every day is a feast for both the eyes and the palate. From diving under water to see colorful fish to sitting down for a meal from fresh ingredients and delicious preparations.
One of our most memorable days was when we jumped into the crystal-clear waters for a snorkeling excursion around Bartholome Island.
Exploring Bartholomew Island felt like stepping into another world. The island's volcanic landscapes took my breath away.
Every moment on Bartholomew Island brought a new surprise, from its unique geography to its thriving wildlife.
We had a trail to explore every morning and afternoon, whether it was walking up the steps for a Birdseye view of the volcanic landscapes of Bartholomew Island or rambling through the mud pools in the cloud forest highlands to spot giant tortoises. Hiking through the Galápagos is about to offer an up-close look at its unique creatures.
This journey through the Galápagos Islands brings us face-to-face with nature’s wonders every day.
We loved the dedication from the excursion team. Each activity was planned so we could be the first on the trail in the morning and last in the evening. Our Guide Andres Cadena was very knowledgeable of the islands, but also patient and keen to answer every question we had. He is also a talented photographer - here is his Instagram account:
https://www.instagram.com/galapagos.nomad/
He prepared some really nice lectures to help us understand the different behaviors amongst sea birds, in particular the blue-footed booby and the reason for coloration of it’s feet.
In our guide’s words:
“The Blue footed boobies are part of the genus Sula – know by it’s distinctive blue feet, which is a mating selective trait. If you compare it to a young adult, the brighter the shoes, it is easier to get the chicks”
The amazing team surprised with a grilling station for a night occasion in the alfresco dining area. This displayed their ability to modify scenarios to please us.
We observed this on a particular evening when our group desired a diverse option, and they promptly organized an outstanding barbecue amidst the twinkling constellations.
I requested a dish beyond the standard offerings – I have a thing for garlic seasoned calamari, and the cook prepared it solely for me. That's genuine service.
Such adaptability was available all the time on the boat. They consistently sought methods to accommodate our wants, regardless of magnitude, rendering every day unique and fit precisely for us.
Our most memorable meal was the second night on board. We sat down for dinner, eager to taste what the chef had cooked up after a day of exploring. First came the shrimp cocktail, fresh and zesty. Next, I chose the Sierra tuna steak over peppered beef because it sounded tasty and Samuel had the coconut shrimp option.
Both were options alongside polenta, mushrooms, and vegetables. Eating this meal felt like a pat on the back for all we'd seen and done.
Every bite was a reminder of how unique this luxury yacht in Galápagos adventure was. The chefs outdid themselves, making sure each dish reflected the island's flavors. It wasn't just food, it was the service, the caring attention and all the pampering from an amazing crew; it was an experience that wrapped up another perfect day at sea with satisfaction buzzing around as surely as the evening stars above us.
Learn more about food on board a Galapagos yacht
So, we sailed around the Galápagos on a fancy yacht. We started from San Cristobal island, then onwards to Espanola Island, ate gourmet food, and learned about volcanoes. We saw flamingos at Santa Cruz and hiked to see more wildlife.
The Horizon was our base with comfy rooms and great food. Snorkeling let us meet marine animals up close. This adventure was unforgettable, like stepping into another world where nature tells its own stories.
Every moment felt like living in a postcard, too beautiful to be true but it was all real.
Expect nothing short of spectacular! Aboard your luxury yacht, you'll cruise around the volcanically-formed islands, spotting unique wildlife like the red-footed booby. You get to visit the amazing landscape at Bartolomé Island
Yes, some services or amenities onboard might come with an extra surcharge. Always confirm these details when planning your trip. In our case alcohol and bottled drinks were not included. We also had to rent the wetsuits and internet was $10 a day for our cabin (inclusions change from one yacht to another as well as pricing).
Trimarans are known for their stability and spaciousness - perfect for smooth sailing around the islands! However, each type of yacht offers its own charm and advantages.
Most adventures kick off from Quito, then it's onward to Puerto Baquerizo Moreno where you'll embark on your luxurious sea voyage.
The difference is night and day! A yacht trip around the Galapagos is not a cruise, it is an expedition where we become partners with the crew trying to spot as many animals as possible and as luxurious the ship may be, the true luxury is in spending more time off the yacht enjoying the islands.
Luxury yachts provide intimate experiences with more personalized service; think gourmet meals, plush accommodations, and access to less crowded spots.
